ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Boys' Soccer Guidelines

Boys' soccer coaches will meet on Monday, August 15, 2011, 4:00 p.m., at Gabe's By The Park. All varsity coaches must attend this meeting.

Practice begins Monday, August 15, 2011.

Coaches are to send rosters and digital team picture to John Vosejpka at the district office before the first conference game for the athletic Web site. Updated rosters and pictures can be sent anytime during the season.

It is recommended that athletic directors contact field maintenance prior to this date to express needs for the season. Home sites should be equal to varsity status and as close to state guidelines as possible.

The St. Paul City Conference schedule includes ten regular season games. The MSHSL allows up to 18 per season.

All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Soccer Coaches Association.

The conference champion will be determined by a point system awarding three points for wins, one for tie and no points for a loss. If a tie still exists, head-to-head competition will determine championship. If a tie still remains, those teams will be honored as co-champions. Coaches of conference championship teams are reminded that trophies and conference medals will be presented at board meetings.

Injury:

If an injury occurs during a practice, the coach will be responsible for the proper procedure in caring for the athlete.

If an injury occurs in a game only the head coach or designated trainer will handle the details including first-aid, transportation and need for further assistance or follow-up.

If, because of serious injury and the lack of assistant coaches, the team is left without supervision, the contest will be suspended and MSHSL rules will apply.

Equipment

All equipment with the exception of socks, shin guards and shoes are the responsibility of the coach and equipment manager.

All players must be in compliance with state league requirements. No unauthorized equipment will be worn.

Shin guards are mandatory.

Balls must be MSHSL approved (32 panel, hand-sewn ball).

It is the coaches responsibility to make sure all goals are anchored and secure before practice and games.

Games:

Home teams will wear white as required by the State League.

Timekeeping, scores, and individual violations will at this time be the responsibility of the assigned referees.

The coach of the HOME team will report the game results to the media to promote St. Paul City Conference soccer. HOME coach should contact John Vosejpka by phone (767-3490) or e-mail (john.vosejpka@SPPS.org) with results for Web site posting.

All-Conference selections will be made at the post-season meeting. All coaches will help select the All-Conference team with representation from all teams. The first place team will nominate up to five; second place will nominate four; third place will nominate three; and all other teams will nominate one player. Honorable mention will include a nomination of no more than three players. Each team will be allowed the possibility of two petitions for two extra All-Conference players. All regulations regarding rules, violations, game situations, etc. will follow the MSHSL regulation manual.

At the pre-season meeting a conference representative will be elected to represent the conference in the selection of All-State nominations.
